Mission
The change in the site and effort going into it right now have a purpose. Having spent the past few years as a full time educator, I have learned to enjoy helping others reach their goals. This site is another opportunity to help others learn about media production.
On this site, you will find a few things. I will post news and samples of the classes and training materials that I am creating. I will post reviews about products and services that I look at. Finally I will post occasional commentary about whatever strikes me.
The tutorials and training materials that I am creating are focused on two areas. One will be media production tech topics for secondary school students. The second will be materials to help professionals and hobbyists develop proficiency in using the Sony Vegas Pro software. That mean how to work in Vegas Pro rather than how to edit.
Why am I doing this when there are so many good materials out there? After all, my videos will probably not be a good as say D. Eric Franks. The difference is that I will be trying to put all of this into a course format, much like a classroom in a book, that builds on learned skills from one episode to the next. By combining that with a web based learning management system like Moodle, I hope that folks will be able to stop in and “take a course” to improve themselves. Will it work? I can’t say. We are just going to try. You be the judge.
It will take a couple of weeks to get the first pieces of this mission going, but this summer should be a productive time.
